Day 11 of how to write great headlines in less than 30 days

Day 11 of how to write great headlines in less than 30 days

Practice makes Perfect

Day 11:

As they say: Practice makes perfect.

Try to write twenty odd lines or so in two hours. Yes, you should come up with twenty and some ideas (no matter how crude or lame) within two hours.

That said I have to admit the Muse may not be so kind on you on all days. On such days, try to write a few lines that sound, if not make, sound sense.  Then scan for errors and finally format it as if it were the headline of the year. Your senior will respect you for your professionalism.

Just one more thing: don’t discard your rejected lines as trash. You may find some nuggets in there. And if you cannot tell gold from lead, then your senior might.

On the flip side: have you ever had a eureka moment when you thought you had struck gold only to realize the following morning that it was trash after all? Always sleep the night through before giving it a final look-over the following day. You may not like what you have written and may want to do it over.

Have a nugget or two to share about this topic? Don’t forget to write in your eureka (or otherwise) moments in the space below.

Until then,

Adieus!
